Argentina-based logistics company Axionlog wants to expand its North Jacksonville cold- and dry-storage warehouse, which it completed in 2022 at northwest New Berlin and Faye roads.

Plans show Axionlog built a 38,375-square-foot building on a 44.7-acre site at 11370 New Berlin Road where it proposes a 59,336-square-foot expansion and associated pavement and site work.

The expansion boosts the project to 97,711 square feet, which tracks its initial plans to start with freezer and dry storage space designed for expansion to almost 105,000 square feet.

The city is reviewing a site-clearing permit for the expansion at an estimated project cost of $575,000.

JAX Chamber announced in December 2019 that the logistics company would establish a consolidation/distribution facility in Duval County and start with 25 jobs.

The Axionlog site plan shows a 59,336-square-foot expansion north of its current building with additional pavement and site work. The North Jacksonville facility is at 11370 New Berlin Road.

Pre-pandemic, JaxPort announced Feb. 25, 2020, that Axionlog chose it as the port of choice to ship its U.S.-manufactured exports bound for Latin America.

JaxPort said Axionlog intended to open the warehouse by early 2021 and that the 38,000-square-foot facility was expected to expand to 100,000 square feet and create 60 jobs within five years.

That initial time frame was affected by the coronavirus pandemic, which led to shutdowns in March 2020.

The city approved a $2.9 million permit June 14, 2021, for Axionlog to build the cold and dry storage warehouse.

V. Paulius & Associates of Allendale, New Jersey, was the contractor for the initial project and is listed as the project on the expansion.

The city had issued permits totaling $125,000 for site clearing on 16.53 acres, foundation construction and other work.
