As I prepare to step down as executive director of the Jacksonville Bar Association on Oct. 10, I find myself reflecting on the journey of the past eight years — years filled with challenge, growth and above all, gratitude.

What began for me in December 2017 as an opportunity to work for former JBA Executive Director Jim Bailey and serve Northeast Florida’s legal community quickly became a calling.

Together, we have accomplished much, and I am thankful for the many people who have made this work meaningful.

When I first joined the JBA, we were in a transition. The organization needed to strengthen its foundation. Through the commitment of our board of governors and the dedication of our members, we charted a path forward.

One of our proudest achievements has been growing membership to more than 2,400 lawyers, judges, paralegals and law students.

Membership has never been just about numbers — it is about creating a place where the legal profession can find connection, education and purpose.

Another highlight of my tenure has been expanding our continuing legal education programming. Together with our committees, we created opportunities for members to learn not only about substantive law but also about ethics, professionalism and the role of technology in the modern practice.

Our CLE offerings have touched nearly every practice area and many have drawn statewide recognition for their quality and relevance. From large-scale seminars to intimate committee programs, these educational opportunities have brought members together in meaningful ways.

I am grateful to the speakers, committee leaders and volunteers who made these programs possible.

The JBA thrives not only because of its members but also because of the strong partnerships we have built in the community. Over the past several years, we have expanded our sponsorship program, ensuring that the association has the resources to invest in member benefits and long-term growth.

This progress has allowed us to strengthen the financial foundation of the association and plan more proactively for the future. We now stand on solid footing-something that gives me great pride as I prepare to hand the reins to new leadership.

While I am proud of the progress we have made, I know it would not have been possible without the efforts of others. Our presidents, past and present, have led with vision. Our board of governors has offered wisdom and support throughout.

And most importantly, our members — each of you — have inspired me daily. Your commitment to justice, civility and professionalism is the reason this association continues to thrive.

I am excited about the future of the JBA. New leadership will bring fresh vision and I am confident that the association will continue to build on the foundation we have laid. I look forward to cheering on the JBA in its next chapter and to continuing to serve our community in new ways.

As I close this chapter of my professional journey, I leave with deep gratitude for the opportunity to serve you. Thank you for your trust, your friendship and your unwavering commitment to the JBA.
