California-based Habit Burger & Grill says it is opening its first restaurant in Jacksonville on Oct. 15.
The freestanding restaurant and drive-thru is at 13559 Beach Blvd., a former Bojangles. It is the first of three locations planned for Jacksonville, along with 15022 Max Leggett Parkway near Jacksonville International Airport and 9171 Baymeadows Road east of Interstate 95.
Habit Burger said in a Oct. 7 news release that the first 500 customers on opening day will receive a Flavor Passport good for more than $20 off on a future visit. Beach totes containing Habit merchandise will be given away. First-time users of Habit’s app will receive a free Charburger with the purchase of a drink.
The restaurant will be open daily from 10:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Pre-opening events
The Oct. 15. opening will be preceded by promotional events open only to participants who register here,
• From 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 11, the first 200 eligible customers will receive a free Charburger, fries and drink.
• From 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 13 and Oct. 14, the first 200 eligible customers will receive a free meal from a select menu.

Habit Burger & Grill is a chain based in Irvine, California. It says its menu features freshly chargrilled burgers, chicken and tuna “all cooked-to-order over an open flame.”
It also has salads and shakes.
The HabitBurger.com site says the company began in Santa Barbara, California, in 1969 and “has been chargrilling California’s freshest flavors for over half a century.”
There are 12 Habit Burger & Grill locations in Florida, mainly in South Florida with one in Clearwater. There is a 13th coming soon to St. Petersburg.
Habit Burger is part of Yum! Brands Inc., which also owns KFC, Taco Bell and Pizza Hut. The Jacksonville restaurant is company-owned.
