The Adventure Landing amusement park in St. Augustine might be approaching its final days.

The St. Johns River Water Management District is reviewing an application that includes demolishing the park and redeveloping the site for commercial use.

It is at 2780 Florida Road 16 adjacent to the St. Augustine Premium Outlets.

Adventure Landing St. Augustine is at 2780 Florida Road 16 next to the St. Augustine Premium Outlets.

Filed Oct. 2, the environmental resource permit lists Jacksonville-based Foresite Group as the civil engineer.

According to the filing, “The entire Adventure Landing development will be demolished and redeveloped with new commercial sites.

The developer is considering relocating the existing stormwater pond at the corner of State Road 16 and Elevation Parkway to a different portion of the site so the hard corner is available for commercial use.”

The property is owned by NNN REIT Inc., formerly National Retail Properties Inc., a publicly traded real estate investment trust based in Orlando, and leased to NRP Lease Holdings LLC, which operates the park.

Founder Hank Woodburn spent 24 years with Putt-Putt Golf Courses of America before launching Adventure Landing in 1995.

His company, Adventure Golf & Games — later renamed Adventure Entertainment Co. — built the 18-acre, $5 million park featuring miniature golf, a water park, arcade, laser tag, go-karts and batting cages.

The company’s Blanding Boulevard site is now part of an Amazon delivery center. Its Beach Boulevard location remains open, despite reports it could close in September, and continues to post on social media, including announcements about Columbus Day deals.

Other locations are scattered throughout New York, North Carolina and Texas.
