HCA Florida Memorial Hospital is exploring development of a freestanding emergency room at northeast Yellow Bluff and New Berlin roads in North Jacksonville.
The site plan shows the facility west of the Publix-anchored Northpoint Village shopping center. It is north of a wooded site where a Gate Carwash is planned.
It could be the ninth freestanding emergency room for the health care network in Northeast Florida.
City utility JEA issued a service availability determination letter Oct. 1 for a proposed commercial development of a freestanding emergency room including utilities, water, sanitary and electric services.
A JEA service availability request means a project is being considered and not that a deal is moving forward.
An exhibit with the request shows a proposed 10,860-square-foot medical facility.
The four separately owned parcels total 7.1 acres.
HCA Florida Memorial Hospital made one statement in an email Oct. 10.
“Right now, we do not own land in North Jacksonville,” said Odette Struys, in marketing and corporate affairs with HCA Florida Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville.
The applicant is EXP U.S. Services in Chicago.
HCA Florida Memorial Hospital has emergency rooms at its main campus at 3625 University Blvd. S. in Jacksonville and at HCA Florida Orange Park Hospital at 2001 Kingsley Ave. in Clay County.
