The Home Depot will open its new store at 9600 San Jose Blvd. in Mandarin for a community event Oct. 15 with regular store hours beginning Oct. 16.
The home improvement store was built on the 11.64-acre site of a former Kmart along Old St. Augustine Road.
The community celebration is 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Oct. 15.
Regular store hours begin Oct. 16. Hours are 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.
The Daily Record first reported plans for The Home Depot in May 2023.
The opening comes one year after the city issued a permit Oct. 16, 2024, for construction of the store.
The 132,975-square-foot Home Depot comprises a 106,367-square-foot retail space with a 25,074-square-foot garden center and other areas.
Ordner Construction Co. Inc. of Duluth, Georgia, was the contractor for the $8 million project.
A spokesperson for The Home Depot said in a news release the store is hiring 40 associates to add to its already 100-person team.
It is the second Home Depot to open in Northeast Florida this year. The retailer opened its World Commerce Center location in St. Johns County in April.
