It also lists open locations at 1775 Wells Road in Orange Park, and 245 Florida Road 312 in St. Augustine.

Outback’s corporate headquarters responded by email saying this will be the only Jacksonville area closing at this time.

The email from Elizabeth Daly, director of Media & Community Relations, read:

"Closing a restaurant is never easy. This was a business decision that is not a reflection of the management or staff. Some employees will have the opportunity to transfer, and all will receive a transition bonus. We appreciate the community’s support over the past 35 years and hope to see them at our Atlantic Boulevard and Bay Meadows restaurants.

This is the only Jacksonville area location that has closed and it was not part of the 41 announced almost two years ago. The last day of business was October 26."

In February 2024, the chain’s parent company announced it was closing 41 locations across its portfolio, which also includes Bonefish Grill, Carrabba’s Italian Grill and Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar. The parent company is Bloomin’ Brands, based in Tampa.

The Jacksonville Beach locations of Bonefish Grill and Carrabba’s remain open.
