Maple Street’s flagship San Marco restaurant permitted for renovation

The Jacksonville-based biscuit chain started at the location in 2012 before being sold to Cracker Barrel in 2019.

The city issued a permit Aug. 29 for Cracker Barrel to renovate the original Maple Street Biscuit Co. location in San Marco, where the breakfast-lunch concept’s founders launched the chain in 2012.

Ameritech Services Inc. of Orlando is the contractor for the $100,000 tenant remodel at the 2,774-square-foot restaurant space at 2004 San Marco Blvd.

Oxford Architecture is the architect. Parsons Engineering is the civil engineer. Both are based in Nashville, Tennessee.

Plans show a cosmetic refresh and interior remodel. 

The city issued a permit in November for Jacksonville contractor Harbinger to put up a new exterior sign at a project cost of $13,368. 

Cracker Barrel Old Country Store Inc. paid $36 million in cash in October 2019 for Maple Street and its 33 restaurants in seven states.

Cracker Barrel, based in Lebanon, Tennessee, operated at least 70 Maple Streets and 658 Cracker Barrels as of May 2, 2025.

Maple Street’s menu includes biscuits, biscuit sandwiches, biscuit plates, bowls, waffles,  sides, coffee, drinks and more.
