JaxPort announced Sept. 2 it had added to its commercial staff by filling the newly created role of director of cargo sales for Latin America.
Juan Pablo Acosta Magaña is responsible for strengthening commercial ties between Jacksonville and containerized cargo customers in South America, Central America, Mexico and the Caribbean, the port posted on its website. His focus includes cultivating relationships and delivering high-level service to industry decision-makers in the region.
Magaña brings 20 years of international trade and logistics experience to the new role, JaxPort says, including working in Latin America to help shippers connect with global markets. His career includes sales and customer service roles at several large ocean carriers, including Maersk Line, Hamburg Süd and Hapag-Lloyd.
The Venezuela native holds a master’s in logistics and supply chain management from Florida International University and a bachelor of science in international commerce from Universidad Alejandro de Humboldt in Caracas, Venezuela.
