Swiss watchmaker Omega announced Sept. 8 it opened its boutique in St. Johns Town Center.
The shop is at 4835 River City Drive, Suite 105, in the former Tesla auto showroom space in an end unit next to the Apple store.
SwatchGroup.com says that since 1965, the Omega Speedmaster has been worn on each of NASA’s piloted missions, including all six moon landings, and has been aboard “many of history’s greatest explorations beyond Earth.”
Omega described one of the features of the Jacksonville store in the news release announcing its opening:
“The distinctive, large scale gold astronaut right at the entrance connects visitors instantly with the brand’s extraordinary legacy of space exploration, as the makers of the first watch on the moon and trusted provider of flight-qualified timepieces to the US space agency,” the company said.
OmegaWatches.com shows that men’s watches start at $5,900 for the Seamaster Diver 300M.The Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional is $31,800.
Prices start at $3,100 for women for the De Ville Prestige and rise up to the $50,600 Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional in gold.
“OMEGA’s boutique team selects locations with great care. After visits to some of the most renowned luxury stores in the world, the decision was made to make OMEGA’s latest boutique a tribute to the cultural legacy of Jacksonville,” the release said.
Hirsch Construction Corp. of Middleton, Massachusetts, renovated the 2,837-square-foot space at an estimated project cost of $1.75 million.
Store hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday-Thursday; 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday; and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.
Omega is part of The Swatch Group Ltd. of Switzerland.
Omega operates stores globally. Other Omega boutiques operate in Florida in Miami, Naples, Orlando, Palm Beach Gardens and Tampa.
