Baptist Health named Sarah Sanders executive vice president and chief consumer officer effective Sept. 8.
“Sarah is an innovative and mission-focused leader with a remarkable ability to get to the heart of a community’s health care needs. Her leadership will be invaluable as we continue to build meaningful relationships with our patients, ensuring they feel seen, heard and cared for throughout every step of their health care journey,” Michael A. Mayo, president and CEO of Baptist Health, said in a news release.
Baptist said Sanders will lead marketing, communications, digital strategy, advertising, community impact and engagement initiatives aimed at strengthening the connection between the health system and the communities it serves throughout Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia.
She brings more than 20 years of experience in marketing and communications in health care and academic medical environments. She joins Baptist Health from UCSF (University of California, San Francisco) Health, where she was vice president, chief marketing and communications officer for the regional academic health system with seven hospitals.
Sanders is returning to Jacksonville, having previously led marketing and communications strategies for Nemours Children’s Health, which provides pediatric physician services at Wolfson Children’s Hospital.
“It’s a privilege to join an institution so deeply rooted in the community and trusted by generations of patients and families,” Sanders said in the release. “I’m looking forward to strengthening these connections so that we can continue to meet patients where they are, providing guidance and care that truly fits their needs.”
Sanders was educated in New York, receiving a bachelor’s in communications from the Roy H. Parks School of Communications at Ithaca College and an MBA from Rochester Institute of Technology. She is a member of the Health Care Executive Forum and the Society for Healthcare Strategy and Market Development.
