Naturalization ceremony before Jumbo Shrimp game Sept. 13

U.S. Magistrate Judge Patricia Barksdale will administer the Oath of Allegiance.

The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp will host a pregame naturalization ceremony at 6 p.m. Sept. 13 on Bragan Field at VyStar Ballpark before the Jumbo Shrimp play the Memphis Redbirds.

The 20 citizenship candidates participating in the ceremony originate from Albania, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Ethiopia, Germany, Haiti, Jamaica, Lebanon, Peru, Philippines, Serbia, Sweden, Ukraine, United Kingdom, Venezuela and Vietnam.

During the ceremony, U.S. Magistrate Judge Patricia Barksdale will administer the Oath of Allegiance. U.S. Magistrate Judge Samuel Horovitz will then lead the new citizens in their first Pledge of Allegiance to the flag.

The event is a partnership comprising the Jumbo Shrimp, the judges of the U.S. District Court, Middle District of Florida, Jacksonville Division and the Department of Homeland Security-U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.
