St. Johns County has green-lighted further construction of a medical office building that is part of the 42.5-acre UF Health Durbin Park campus in St. Johns County.
On Feb. 5, the county issued a build-out permit for 13,326 square feet of the 72,147-square-foot building at a cost of $7.5 million. The permit refers to the project as “core shared space” across its three floors. It is the first build-out permit issued for the facility.
The county issued a $10.8 million building permit April 10, 2025, for the building’s shell at 120 Flagler Health Way near Race Track Road.
Stellar, based in Jacksonville, is overseeing construction.
After receiving a building permit for a 150-bed hospital at the site in December 2023, leaders from the University of Florida and UF Health broke ground on a hospital in February 2024. It is the first campus component permitted at a cost of about $166 million.
Plans for the 395,000-square-foot hospital include acute, intensive, and emergency care; operating rooms; and an imaging suite and hybrid labs for interventional procedures.
A central energy plant was permitted at a cost of $19.4 million on in December 2024, followed by a permit for a helipad at a cost of $100,000.
According to UFHealth.org, the first phase of the campus is expected to bring 2,000 new jobs to the area, contributing to an eventual total of 12,000 in St. Johns County and Jacksonville. The development represents a $1 billion investment in Northeast Florida.
