HCA Florida Healthcare opened its freestanding emergency facility Feb. 18.

It is at 1780 Woodlawn Road in St. Augustine, northeast of the Publix-anchored Shoppes at Mission Trace off Florida Road 16.

Hereford Dooley Architects Inc. of Nashville is the architect. Catalyst Design Group of Winter Park is the civil engineer. Conway, Arkansas-based Nabholz Construction Corp is the contractor.

“Our expansion into the St. Augustine area with our new freestanding emergency room will significantly enhance access to emergency care for patients in the community,” HCA CEO Reed Hammond said in a news release. “As part of HCA Florida Healthcare, the largest healthcare system in Florida, this facility will connect St. Augustine residents to an extensive network of statewide healthcare resources.”

The new 860-square-foot ER sits on 2 acres. HCA purchased the property in 2023 for $3.7 million. Construction costs were approximately $14.8 million.

The ER, open 24/7, has 10 private rooms and one trauma bay and offers services including CT scans, ultrasounds and X-rays.
