Jacksonville International Airport’s Concourse B is 10 months out from adding six gates, seven restaurants, two lounges, a children’s play area and a turfed pet care room.
“The project is on schedule and will open by Christmas,” said Jacksonville Aviation Authority CEO Mark VanLoh during a Feb. 27 tour.

Plans include quick-service restaurants Chick-fil-A, Panda Express, V Pizza and Willie Jewell’s Barbecue, sit-down establishment Cantina Louie Mexican Street Food, recently announced seafood restaurant Salt & Tide and Pura Bean Coffee Co. The concourse will include a children’s play area currently soliciting contractor proposals.
A Delta Sky Club spanning 9,500 square feet and a Club Jax lounge at 5,500 square feet are being built on a mezzanine level that will overlook the food hall.
The concourse will adjust window tinting based on weather conditions. The technology is called electrochromic glazing.

“It is based on things like sunlight and a roof sensor,” said Nick Morello, an engineer and lead representative from Gainesville-based Jacobs.
“It observes everything around the building, and then it’ll crunch the numbers, look at its programming, and then send what to do to each pane of glass.”
The $344 million concourse project is funded by the JAA along with grants from the Florida Department of Transportation and Federal Aviation Administration.
A $100 million six-level, 2,000-space parking garage is scheduled for completion in the fall.
