M Shack, the Jacksonville-based fast-casual hamburger restaurant, is planning a location in SilverLeaf in St. Johns County.
Developer Chet Skinner said Jan. 23 the restaurant signed a lease for a 3,300-square-foot space in the master-planned community’s developing Publix-anchored shopping center.
Skinner, vice president of Skinner Bros. Realty, said the restaurant will feature a full bar and outdoor seating. The center is north of SilverLeaf Parkway and west of St. Johns Parkway near the age-restricted Reverie at TrailMark community.
In addition to burgers, M Shack sells chicken dishes, hot dogs, salads and milkshakes. St. Johns County has not yet issued a permit for the restaurant’s build-out.
M Shack is part of Jacksonville-based Medure Brothers Culinary Concepts, founded by chefs Matthew and David Medure.
At its peak, M Shack operated four locations, including stores at St. Johns Town Center, Atlantic Beach and Riverside.
The restaurant’s location in Nocatee Town Center at 641 Crosswater Parkway remains open.
The St. Johns Town Center location closed in March 2024 when its lease expired, Matthew Medure said. Shake Shack is now in that space.
M Shack’s first location in Atlantic Beach closed in September 2021 due to staffing issues, Medure said at the time. The Riverside location closed in December 2019 to make way for Another Broken Egg.
“I just love the fact that this is the place they’re choosing to come to,” Skinner said.
“The M Shack brand is known and loved by so many people around Northeast Florida, and I think it’s going to be an incredibly successful location for them for years to come.”
St. Johns County issued permits March 27, 2025, for the SilverLeaf Publix. The 55,000-square-foot store is under construction and is planned to open this year.
Other signed inline tenants include Avalon Nails, Club Pilates, SoFresh and UPS, Skinner said. Fifth Third Bank and Dunkin’ are signed for outparcels.
Other Medure restaurants include Matthew’s, Restaurant Medure, Rue Saint-Marc, Midtown Table, Saleya Riveria Cafe, M Brothers and Zest.
