Peter and Kristen Kenney, owners of St. Augustine bistro Purple Olive, opened Beach Bagels on March 4 at 4255 Florida A1A S., Unit 6, in St. Augustine Beach.

The new breakfast and lunch café occupies the former Purple Olive location, which relocated in October to 828 Anastasia Blvd. in the former Gypsy Cab Co. site.

The Beach Bagels menu features bagels, sandwiches, salads and bowls.

The Kenneys have been part of St. Augustine’s restaurant scene for more than 20 years.

Peter Kenney worked at area restaurants including Manatee Café, La Parisienne and Gypsy Cab Co., while Kristen Kenney is the former owner and manager of Schmagel’s Bagels in Downtown St. Augustine.

“It’s a great opportunity for us to continue serving the coastal community we love with honest, simple, made-from-scratch food that nourishes the body and the soul,” Kristen Kenney said.

“And who doesn’t love coming off the beach or ending a surfing session with something great to eat?”

Beach Bagels posts hours of 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday.
