A St. Johns County veterinary space once reported to be Arista Advanced Pet Care may open under a related brand, CityVet, when it begins operations.

JEA is reviewing a service availability request made by a CityVet employee at the same address where a project identified as “Arista Jacksonville Vet” was issued a $2.8 million build-out permit Dec. 31 for 2220 County Road 210 W., Suite 201.

The 22,027-square-foot space is at the St. John’s Commons shopping center, next to an Aldi that opened Feb. 26.

Both companies operate under parent company Affinity Veterinary Partners and offer similar services.

CityVet focuses on general practice, grooming and boarding, while Arista specializes in 24/7 emergency and specialty referral services. On their websites, both say they aim to provide autonomy to veterinary teams without corporate protocols or quotas.

CityVet was founded in 1999 and has more than 75 locations in Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Virginia and Washington, D.C.

Founded in 2024, Arista has one location in Georgia and another in Texas.

Calls to CityVet were not returned.
