A ramp off Interstate 295 in North Jacksonville at Alta Drive appears to be the next top stop for travelers looking for gas, food, snacks and convenience items, or just a Slurpee or Chewy Ice.
Two popular convenience stores appear to be eying the area for development.
City utility JEA received a service availability request March 3 for a 7-Eleven gas station at southwest Alta Drive and Faye Road, at northwest I-295 and Alta.

A conceptual plan shows a 4,853-square-foot convenience store and eight fueling stations with 16 pumps on 1.74 acres. It is next to a 0.68-acre outparcel.
The store and outparcel are part of a 7.58-acre site, indicating more potential development on the remaining 5.16 acres.
R.K.M. Development Corp. of St. Petersburg is the developer. Engineering and construction consultant Atwell LLC of Jacksonville is the applicant.
A JEA request means a project is being explored but is not necessarily a done deal.
The 7-Eleven site is across Alta Drive from where Savannah, Georgia-based Parker’s Kitchen seeks a permit to build a 7,127-square-foot location at 11205 Alta Drive at an estimated project cost of $2.52 million. It is one of four confirmed sites that Parker’s Kitchen said would open in Northeast Florida by the third quarter of 2026.

Parker’s Kitchen owns the site through DPC-FL LLC, which paid $5.3 million for the land in July 2023. The three other confirmed sites are 7481 Wilson Blvd. at Old Middleburg Road in West Jacksonville; Blanding and Tanglewood boulevards in Orange Park in Clay County.; and 76010 William Burgess Blvd. in Wildlight in Yulee in Nassau County.
In total, there appear to be five Parker’s Kitchens in permitting, review or consideration in Duval County; three in Clay County; and one each in Nassau and St. Johns counties.
The ParkersKitchen.com menu includes fresh-baked biscuits, catfish, grits, hash browns, sausage patties and gravy, chicken tenders, pork chops, pulled pork sandwiches, fried okra, breakfast burritos, lemonade and “Signature Chewy Ice.”
7-Eleven is known for its Slurpee drinks and also serves pizza, wings and items from roller grills.
About a dozen 7-Elevens operate in Northeast Florida.
