GE Aerospace announced it is investing $3 million in its Unison facility in Jacksonville, where it builds ignition systems and other equipment for commercial and military aircraft.

In a March 9 news release, the company said the investment in its facility at 7575 Baymeadows Way is for new equipment and lab upgrades to help produce and test ignition and electrical power components.

In addition to ignition systems, the site produces engine components such as sensors and power distribution hardware.

GE Aerospace said the equipment and upgrades will allow it to maintain consistent quality while meeting growing demand.

The release said the company has put $10 million into the Jacksonville operation over the past three years. In March 2025, GE Aerospace announced it was spending $4 million on enhancements to the Unison facility.

“This investment helps us to improve delivery, with the safety, quality, and reliability our customers need. We are all in on U.S. manufacturing, Jacksonville, and our customers,” Steve Grimm, site leader in Jacksonville, said in the release.

The local investment is part of $1 billion GE said it is investing in its U.S. operations in 2026 to help accelerate engine deliveries, increase production of parts, extend time between maintenance shop visits and strengthen military production to keep pace with demand.

According to the release, it will apply to sites in 30 communities across 17 states. The company also plans to hire 5,000 U.S. workers in manufacturing and engineering roles, an addition to the 5,000 people it hired last year.

GE also invested $1 billion investment into its U.S. operations in 2025.
