A bakery would replace a former market and coffee shop in Downtown Jacksonville under a proposal on its way to the Downtown Investment Authority board.

On March 18, the board is set to consider an incentive for From Butter With Love, described in a DIA staff report as an artisanal bakery and retail operation planned at 223 N. Hogan St.

“From Butter with Love is a handcrafted bakery specializing in small-batch sourdough breads, laminated pastries, gluten-free desserts, and specialty bagels,” the report reads.

“Production will occur on-site with an open kitchen concept that allows customers to see the baking process and emphasizes craftsmanship and product quality.”

Blair Ogle Inc., co-owned by J.T. Ogle and Leah Ogle, is seeking a Core Retail Enhancement Program Grant of up to $24,450 in incentives for the bakery.

Total build-out costs for the project are listed at $56,000 in DIA documents.

The storefront at 223 N. Hogan St. most recently housed The Mini Market, which sold convenience store items, coffee, gifts and more. Before that, it was home to the Back to the Grind Downtown coffee shop.

John Ogle and Leah Ogle previously operated From Butter with Love Bakery at Mossfire Grill at 1573 Margaret St., using the kitchen in the morning before the restaurant began preparing lunch and dinner. Mossfire Grill closed in November 2025.

Hours for the Hogan street shop will be 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday and Friday, the DIA reported. There will be no weekend hours initially.

The DIA board meeting is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the main Jacksonville Public Library at 303 N. Laura St.
