Life Time Inc. is exploring the Durbin Park area of St. Johns County for the health club chain’s second fitness center in Northeast Florida, according to a utility filing that signals early-stage plans.
City-owned utility JEA issued a service availability letter March 16 for the proposed 85,000-square-foot project. Jacksonville-based England-Thims & Miller Inc. is the civil engineer.
Gate Petroleum, through Durbin Creek National LLC, owns the land where the fitness center is proposed.
“While it’s still very early in the process and we’re not at a stage to share detailed plans or timing, I can confirm that we see strong potential in the Jacksonville market and are currently exploring additional opportunities beyond our planned Seven Pines destination (set to open in 2027),” the spokesperson said.

The area’s first Life Time fitness center is permitted for construction at the master-planned Seven Pines development in Jacksonville. Life Time officials said that location will be a two-story, 85,000-square-foot “athletic country club” with a 50,000-square-foot outdoor beach club.
The city issued permits Dec. 11, 2025, for that project, at a project cost of more than $30 million.
LTF Real Estate Co. Inc. of Chanhassen, Minnesota, where Life Time is based, bought the Seven Pines property for $8.19 million in March 2024 from Sawmill Timber LLC.
Life Time is expanding in Florida, with two clubs scheduled to open in 2026 in Winter Park and Lakewood Ranch. Additional locations are in development in Parkland/Coral Springs and Hamlin, according to the company.

Life Time operates clubs in Boca Raton, Coral Gables, Miami, Palm Beach Gardens and Harbour Island (Tampa), including a Life Time Work coworking concept with workspaces and a health club.
In total, Life Time has 185 locations in 32 states and Canada.
Elsewhere at Durbin Park, Gate has announced plans for a Peyton Family YMCA, with early projections of more than 50,000 square feet. A Gate spokesperson said that project remains active.
