Community First Credit Union of Florida plans a Fernandina Beach branch after buying a 1.37-acre commercial lot along Sadler Road.

The project at 2000 Sadler Road near Will Hardee Road would expand the Jacksonville-based credit union’s presence on Amelia Island and mark its fourth location in Nassau County.

“Nassau County is growing and we intend to serve our members where they are,” Community First President and CEO Sam Inman said in a news release.

Development is in the early stage, according to a spokesperson. The credit union intends to build a 3,100-square-foot freestanding branch with a drive-thru and two ATMs. Construction and opening dates have not been determined, nor has the project team.

Community First has served Nassau County for decades with branches in Yulee, Callahan and Wildlight, where the credit union broke ground in January. About 10,000 of the institution’s members live in the county, according to the news release.

The Sadler Road site is part of a growing commercial corridor serving Amelia Island, where residential growth and tourism continue to drive demand for retail and financial services.

Community First has expanded its 25-branch network, with eight locations announced or opened since 2022.

The credit union recently announced renovation and restoration work for a branch in Jacksonville’s Murray Hill neighborhood and property purchases for locations in the Treaty Oaks community in St. Johns County and in Green Cove Springs in Clay County.

Jonathan Heldenbrand of ProperCRE represented Community First in the Sadler Road transaction. Thomas W. Miller of Newmark was the listing agent for the property, which is owned by Sadler Road Partners LLC.
