A marketing plan for downtown started its trek this week as Downtown Vision Inc.’s new Marketing Committee met for over two hours as the start of the process.

The committee, put together by DVI board members John Kiddy of The Jacksonville Landing and Jim Bailey of Bailey Publishing, opened its deliberations with a session at The Seminole Club moderated by Melanie Husk of Husk Jennings. The group set future goals and deliberated the prospects of promoting the central city.

DVI is funded by downtown property owners and is governed by a board. The Marketing Committee includes several DVI board members but also has representatives of various community groups such as the symphony, the homeless center, the hospitality industry and the Better Jacksonville Plan.

The City Council is represented by its vice president, Suzanne Jenkins.
