FIU team wins Bedell mock trial

A team from Florida International University College of Law was undefeated in five rounds on its way to victory in the Chester Bedell Memorial Mock Trial Competition. Eighteen teams from 10 Florida law schools competed in the event at the Trial Lawyers Summit in Ponte Vedra. The trial involved allegations of liability and breach of warranty about the design of a casket handle. Winning team members, shown with U.S. Middle District Judge Timothy Corrigan are, from left, Elroy John Jr., Gemma Torcivia, Michelle Deeb, Arvind Singh and Jaclyn Broudy. Corrigan presided over the championship round. John also was named best tournament advocate in the competition, which was sponsored by The Florida Bar Trial Lawyers Section.
