Flagler Health+ plans to purchase 40 acres in Durbin Park in Northern St. Johns County where it will construct its third Flagler Health+ Village.

The project’s first phase, announced Monday, will comprise family practice, women’s care, urgent care, pediatrics, imaging and laboratory services and green space for activities.

Construction is planned to begin in 2020.

Plans for a second and third phase include a hospital, outpatient surgical services and cancer care. Flagler Health+ said it will partner with residents through a Durbin Park Health Advisory Council to determine community needs.

Flagler Health+ announced two Flagler Health Village projects last year in St. Johns, in Murabella and Nocatee. They’re expected to be complete this summer and summer 2020, respectively.

The villages are “designed to advance the physical, social and economic health of the communities we serve,” Barrett said when the Nocatee project was announced in November.

“As St. Johns County’s leading healthcare provider for more than 130 years, Flagler Health+ is committed to furthering a sense of connectedness and community throughout all areas of this very special region, including the northernmost sector of our county,” said Flagler Hospital President and CEO Jason Barrett in a news release Monday. “We are focused on building meaningful, seamless relationships along the journey of life and look forward to serving the growing needs of area residents.”

Flagler Health+ entered into an agreement with Gate Lands, the real estate subsidiary of Gate Petroleum Co., to buy 40 acres in the company’s Durbin Park development between Interstate 95 and State Road 9B.

“Our goal with Durbin Park is to create a distinct destination where individuals and families can live, work, shop and be entertained,” said Drew Frick, president of Gate Lands. “The community health approach that Flagler Health+ brings to this project will further this goal by creating jobs and expanding the amenities and services available to one of the fastest growing areas in the state.”
