A combined color guard from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department present flags at a ceremony honoring them during last week’s Downtown Live at Hemming Plaza. Mayor John Delaney, Sheriff Nat Glover and Fire and Rescue Chief Ray Alfred all gave brief speeches during the event that not only honored their men and women in uniform, but also their colleagues in New York City. Both departments have personnel who recently aided in New York City’s effort.
