• The Kesler Mentoring Connection, Chamber of Commerce and the U.S. Postal Service will unveil the Mentoring a Child stamp today, featuring a design by artist Lance Hidy that depicts an adult offering guidance to a child. The ceremony is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. in the Hadlow Boardroom at the Chamber.

• Mary Fisher Design received seven gold awards from the International Association of Printing House Craftsman and four silver Addy awards at the 4th District Advertising Federation awards banquet last month. Mary Fisher Design is a full service graphic design studio on the Southbank.

• The 2002 McGala, a fundraiser for the Ronald McDonald House, is scheduled for April 27 from 6:30 p.m.-12:30 a.m. at the University of North Florida University Center. For ticket information, call 807-4663.

• The first of two new classes of firefighter recruits will graduate Thursday during a ceremony at the Jacksonville Regional Fire and Rescue Training Academy at 7 p.m. The second class is scheduled to graduate May 2.

• The Ponte Vedra Beach Art Festival is scheduled for April 20 and 21 at Sawgrass Village.

• The annual Disaster Preparedness Seminar is scheduled for Thursday from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. at the UNF University Center. Chip Patterson, the City’s emergency preparedness chief, is the speaker. The seminar includes discussions on how local businesses are impacted by disasters, how the city deals with a disaster and what steps area businesses are taking to protect against terrorism.
