• The Mayor’s Commission on the Status of Women is seeking nominations from the public for outstanding local women. The Commission will select four women from the nominations and recognize them during Women’s History Month in March. For information, call 630-1650. The deadline for nominations is Dec. 31.

• Lynn Bertram has been named executive director of the PACE Center for Girls Jacksonville. She has over 22 years of experience, including extensive administrative experience with the Children’s Home Society of Florida. Also, PACE needs volunteers for two hours a week to tutor students in math and English. For information, call Kristie at 448-8002.

• The Meninak Club will elect its new officers at today’s meeting at the Radisson. Board of directors nominees are Lew Bliss, Jeff Hoffman, Carter Bryan, David Lampp, Harrison Conyers and Ross Krueger. Joe Louis Barrow Jr. is the speaker.

• The I.M. Sulzbacher Center for the Homeless received a $49,854 Community Food and Nutrition grant from the Department of Health and Human Services. The grant will allow the Center to hire a full time nutritionist.

• John Clark, executive director of the Jacksonville Airport Authority, was recognized last week by the Jacksonville chapter of the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials for his community and professional contributions to the community. Clark serves on the boards of several organizations, including the Airports Council, Jacksonville Urban League, Wolfson Children’s Hospital and the Jacksonville and the Beaches Convention and Visitors Bureau.
