Construction board: no North Florida

The North Florida area was again shut out as Gov. Jeb Bush filled seven vacancies on the Construction Industry Licensing Board.

There are no area members on the 16-person board, which regulates the licensing and disciplining of state-licensed contractors. Nor are there any members on the 7-person Florida Real Estate Commission.

The latest appointees, all of whom were appointed or reappointed to a 4-year term beginning November 1:

• Lee-En Chung, 36, of Sarasota, general contractor with Ivy Ventures, Inc.. Chung was the only person reappointed.

• Barry Kalmanson, 38, of Winter Park, attorney and self-employed building contractor.

• Terry F. Ross, 48, of Eustis, residential contractor and owner of T.F.R. Inc.

• John B. Smith, 63, of Eustis, president and owner of Lake Mechanical Contractors, Inc.

• Carl E. Engelmeier, 52, of Apopka, chief executive officer of E.H. Engelmeier Roofing and Sheet Metal Company.

• Michael L. Blankenship, 56, of Havana, underground utilities contractor and vice president of Blankenship Contracting, Inc. He is a former board chairman.

• Christine M. Hoke, 33, of Tallahassee, attorney with McRae and Metcalf, P.A.
