Downtown This Week, a weekly lifestyle and entertainment magazine which covers Jacksonville’s downtown, debuts today. The first distribution will be during FridayFest in Hemming Plaza.

The magazine will be distributed at no charge throughout the Northbank and Southbank areas. It will be available at hotels, restaurants and retail sites.

It will be produced by Bailey

Publishing & Communications

Inc., one of downtown’s oldest companies. Now located at 10 N. Newnan St., it has been a downtown presence since 1912 through its weekday publication, the Financial News & Daily Record.

“This is a significant step for

our company,” said James F. Bailey Jr., the company’s president. “Jacksonville’s downtown is growing each day, and this is our chance to reach the 60,000 who work here and the many visitors.”

In addition to the Daily Record, Bailey also publishes three monthly newspapers: Focus on Jacksonville Business, the official publication of the Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce; Realty/Builder Connection and Golf News.

“We will deliver comprehensive coverage of the evolution and explosive revitalization of downtown businesses, entertainment and residental life,” said Bailey. “We’ve seen efforts come and go, and now we have a true commitment from so many people. The City is firmly behind downtown and that has brought along people like Vestcor, the big banks, the Spence family and many, many small businesses taking risks and betting downtown will succeed.”
