The D.W. Perkins Bar Association held its Inaugural 2003 Scholarship Awards Banquet Saturday night at the Omni. Over 450 attended to the hear former Florida Supreme Court Justice Leander Shaw. The Perkins Bar was founded in 1968 in honor of Daniel Webster Perkins, one of the first African Americans allowed to practice law in Duval County.
