• Downtown Vision, Inc. is advising downtown workers to be on the lookout for a man hiding in women’s restrooms. According to the alert, several downtown building managers have reported a 34-year-old black male, five-foot-five-inches tall, weighing 180 pounds and wearing white velcro tennis shoes lurking around downtown bathrooms. The man also reportedly carries a large, black, roll-along bag with a purple stripe and pull-out handles. If spotted, call the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office at 630-0500 or 911.

• Katie J. Lee (left) is the new associate at the law firm of Liles, Gavin, Costantino & Murphy. She’ll be practicing civil trial work.

• There’ll be an investiture ceremony Oct. 29 at 4 p.m. at the Florida Theatre for U.S. Magistrate Judges for the Middle District of Florida Monte C. Richardson and Marcia Morales Howard. A reception follows the ceremony. RSVP by Oct. 17 to (904) 549-1979.

• Susan Pelter, director of written communications for the City, has asked the mayor’s office for advance notice before the announcement of the new animal care and control chief. “This is an issue that’s obviously attracted a lot of attention,” said Pelter. “When changes are made, we want to be ready to respond.”

• A ribbon cutting ceremony for the Amsterdam Sky Cafe has been scheduled for Friday. City Council member Suzanne Jenkins is expected to do the honors.

• After several months of design work, a ground breaking ceremony to celebrate the Park and King improvement project in Riverside is scheduled for 2 p.m. today. Similar to the Hendricks Avenue project, sidewalk and landscaping upgrades are among the provisions of the plan.

• St. Vincent’s has received a $50,000 grant from the Guidant Foundation for programs to support women’s heart health. The hospital will receive money each year for five years.

• Mayor John Peyton has donated $5,000 in surplus campaign funds to Junior Achievement.

• The Jacksonville Museum of Modern Art is offering a free tour to educators tonight. Light hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar will be available. Teachers also may book a future tour for their classes. Regular tours are $4 and scheduled Tuesday through Sunday.

• The Boardwalk Group will work with Jacksonville University marketing students to design a marketing plan for Community Connections, formerly the YWCA.
