The Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville has awarded $2.5 million in grants to 27 local cultural organizations. Four organizations received funding for the first time. Organizations are assigned funding levels based on the size of their annual operating budget. Level I organizations have operating budgets of over $750,000; Level II, $250,000-$750,000 and Level III less than $250,000.

Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens, $332,268; Florida Theatre, $332,268; Jacksonville Museum of Modern Art, $140,000; Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra, $332,268; Museum of Science and History, $332,268; and WJCT Public Broadcasting, $332,268.
Level II
Beaches Fine Arts Series, $37,000; Karpeles Manuscript Library Museum, $20,000; River City Playhouse, $45,452; Riverside Fine Arts Series, $47,861; * Shoshannah Arts, $15,400; St. Johns River City Band, $131,595; Theatre Jacksonville, $120,000; and Theatreworks, $135,000.
Level III
Atlantic Beach Experimental Theatre, $5,750; Beaches Area Historical Society, $21,600; Cathedral Arts Project, $12,000; City Kids Art Factory, $9,502; First Coast Wind Ensemble, $1,113; * Friday Musicale, $13,332; Jacksonville Centre of the Arts, $8,000; Jacksonville Children’s Chorus, $24,000; Jacksonville Masterworks Chorale, $1,000; * Mandarin Museum and Historical Society, $4,505; Players-by-the Sea, $28,267; * Stage Aurora, $7,998; and Teal Sound Youth Arts Organization, $14.295.
