• It appears that Jacksonville will have at least one person in this year’s Olympic Games in Greece. Chris Ennis qualified in the canoe division over the weekend in the Olympic Trials in North Carolina — he’s living there for the competition but his family (on both sides) is here. He’s the grandson of banker Bill Ennis and eye doc Jerry Knauer.

• The ballot of the Florida-Georgia Football Hall of Fame is out with area sports leaders on the panel. The ballot includes two Georgia first-timers who might make it — ex-assistant Coach Erk Russell and announcer Larry Munson. Among those on the UF side are former Coach Doug Dickey and quarterback Don Gaffney from Jacksonville.

• Since our story on Peterbrooke Chocolatier possibly moving into the Kings Avenue Parking Garage, Mike Miller, Jacksonville Transportation Authority director of external affairs, says there have been a few other inquires from interested retailers. Miller declined to name names and says nothing has been finalized at this point.

• Ivan A. Colao, formerly a partner at Akerman Senterfitt, joined Holland & Knight on April 1 in the Business Law North Florida Practice Group. Colao practices securities, mergers and acquisitions, general corporate and business law.

• A bill appropriating nearly $300,000 from a recently completed fire station to two underfunded fire station projects will be heard as an emergency at the next City Council meeting. Fire department representatives said a station located at New Kings Road has a surplus of funds due to “cost saving methods of project management.” With Council approval, a station to be located at Joeandy Road will receive $187,000 so construction can begin next month.

• Square in Five Points has moved. Formerly located on the east side of Park Street, the novelty art store will reopen inside Heartworks on Lomax Street by the end of the week.

• A personal note: congrats to our Deborah Metzig for being named the Sales and Marketing Council’s Affiliate of the Year. Our Realty/Builder Connection newspaper also was a winner in the Affiliate of the Year competition, the biggest of the year for professionals in the real estate and construction industries.
