• The Junior League of Jacksonville will host its Whale of a Sale Feb. 21 from 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. at the Fairgrounds. Admission is $1. The Preview Party will be held Feb. 20 from 6:30-9:30 p.m., and will include entertainment, food, drinks and a preview of the sale. Tickets are $30.

• The Environmental Law Community Action Team will hold a meeting Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. at Florida Coastal School of Law.

• Mayor John Peyton appointed Marilynn Stevenson chief of Adult Services. “Ms. Stevenson’s management background and leadership skills make her an ideal person to administer the important activities of our Adult Services Division,” said Peyton. As chief, Stevenson will oversee a variety of community-wide social service programs. Adult Services maintains 21 senior citizen centers, which offer education in health and nutrition, provide volunteer opportunities and shopping assistance and hold special events for seniors. Stevenson was most recently employed by Florida Community College at Jacksonville, where she served as the Instructional Program Coordinator of the English for Speakers of Other Languages Program (ESOL) in the Adult Studies Department since 1999.

• David Meyer has been named director of business development at St. Vincent’s. Meyer has been at St. Vincent’s for six years, serving as manager of business development. He will be responsible for St. Vincent’s marketing and strategic planning.
