The new Main Library will have a roof within a few weeks, according to Better Jacksonville Plan representatives.
“They’re finishing up the skeleton right now,” said Marcie Cook, a Better Jax spokesperson. “We’re planning to install the final steel beam on June 17.”
Cook said a ceremony will follow.
“They’re on a mission,” said Cook of construction efforts. “With the roof being finished it basically marks the end of the external frame.”
Aside from precast work, Cook said much the construction efforts from now on will take place inside the building as it approaches its completion date.
