Bar to honor 50-year members

• Sixty-eight attorneys, including four from the Jacksonville area, will be honored Friday for a half-century of dedication to the practice of law. The ceremony will be held during The Florida Bar’s annual meeting at the Boca Raton Resort & Club. To receive recognition, attorneys must be members in good standing and attain their 50th anniversary of admittance to the practice of law in Florida in 2004. Among the honorees are former judges, a justice, legislators, law professors, founders of prominent law firms, and Florida Bar leaders. The Florida Bar celebrates their service to the profession, service to the community and service to individuals by protecting their rights. Locals being honored are June C. Blackburn, Tyrie A. Boyer, Neil C. Taylor, and Arthur W. Milam of Ponte Vedra Beach.

• Abel Harding and Robert LaMendola have joined IronState Bank as relationship bankers. Harding will be based in the Sawgrass office, while LaMendola will work out of the San Pablo branch.

• Dr. Bruce E. Myhre of PBS&J’s Jacksonville office is being recognized by the Northeast Florida Chapter of the Florida Engineering Society (FES) for his outstanding contributions to their Professional Engineer Training Program. Myhre received a Special Recognition Award during the FES officer installation banquet last week.

• The Florida Retail Federation is looking for retailers who have been in business 100 years or more in Florida for recognition in the Florida Centennial Retailer program. Submissions must be received in the FRF office no later than July 1, to ensure inclusion among this year’s honorees. Florida Centennial Retailers will be recognized for their contributions to the state’s past, present and future at Florida State University’s Department of Textiles and Consumer Sciences Merchandising Dinner in Tallahassee on Sept. 16. • Fred Odom, vice president of Edwards and Kelcey, has received the Ben Watts Partnership Award from the Florida Department of Transportation and the Florida Institute of Consulting Engineers. The award honors industry leaders who can “effectively bridge people and organizations.” Odom is a registered professional engineer in Florida and Georgia, and a registered land surveyor in Georgia.
