• There’s a new law firm coming to town. Orlando-based GrayRobinson is opening an office in the Bank of America tower.

• Downtown Vision, Inc. is hosting its downtown merchants meeting Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. at improvjacksonville’s headquarters on Monroe Street. Items on the agenda include preparing for the Super Bowl and cleaning up downtown.

• With the city set to celebrate Veterans Day Thursday, the Hooters girls at the Landing are already getting into the spirit. They’ve swapped their trademark orange shorts for camouflage outfit.

• Thanks to attorney Wayne Hogan and several other donors, the St. Johns Riverkeeper has a new motor for its pollution patrol boat. They’ll “christen” the motor during a ceremony Wednesday at the Landing.

• Pepper Lindsey, co-owner of Lindsey Films, Inc., has been elected chair of the Mayor’s Film & Television Advisory Board. She will be the first woman to chair the board. Lindsey has more than 25 years experience in the production industry, with projects ranging from popular reality programming and cable travel shows to national commercial campaigns.

• M. Diane Vogt, author of the popular Judge Wilhelmina Carson legal suspense series will conduct a free, two-hour program entitled, Writing Fiction for Fun and Profit Dec. 2 at 7 p.m. at the Mandarin Library and Dec. 4 at 10 a.m. at the Pablo Creek Regional Library. The programs are open to the public. Vogt has practiced law for 24 years. If you plan to attend, contact Sisters in Crime at [email protected] to sign up for a session because seating is limited.

• The Ritz Chamber Players, the nation’s only chamber music ensemble for classically-trained black musicians, opens its new season at Saturday at 8 p.m. at the T-U Center.
