Riverside’s Five Points shopping district welcomed its newest store recently. Roost & Spruce offers everything from furniture to flowers to event planning.
“We just opened here last Saturday,” said co-owner and Jacksonville native Tonya Lee. “But we’re not exactly a new store.”
Roost, the home furnishing side of the store, and Spruce, a flower market formerly known as Shindig, opened as separate Springfield stores last year.
“(Shindig owner Lee Hamby) and I always wanted to make the move to Five Points and when a store became available, we jumped at the chance to do this,” said Lee. “We’re so excited and the entire neighborhood has been very welcoming towards us.”
Open from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday though Saturday, Lee said the store will cater to clients who crave something unique.
“A lot of things we sell you can’t really get anywhere else in the Southeast,” she said. “That’s going to set us a part from a lot of other stores.”
New customers agree.
“I was walking by and saw that it was open,” said Lianne Goldman. “I have to say, they have some really beautiful things in there that I’ve never seen anything like before.”
