The Jacksonville Transportation Authority’s deputy executive director is leaving the authority.

Matt Dominy’s last day will be Oct. 31.

“I have consistently been offered various professional opportunities since I started here and I am now interested in pursuing them,” Dominy said Monday. “I am leaving, but as of right now I am not sure where I am going.”

Dominy declined to elaborate on those opportunities.

Mayor’s office communications chief Susie Wiles said they had been expecting word of Dominy’s departure since last week.

“From what I understand, there is going to be some kind of announcement soon,” she said.

Wiles, who wouldn’t speculate on why Dominy would leave after less than two years, said his departure is amicable.

“But beyond that, I can’t really comment,” she said.

City Council member Lake Ray, who also serves as a JTA liaison, was unable to comment on Dominy’s departure.

“I have not heard anything like that,” said Ray.

The search for Dominy’s replacement is expected to begin soon.
