Synovus Mortgage Corp. celebrated its Grand Opening last month with Realtors, title company executives and appraisers at a catered lunch.

Deborah Metzig of Realty/Builder Connection and Ann Jones of Watson Realty were grand prize winners and all attendees received giveaways and more drawings were held for additional prizes.

The purpose of the luncheons was to give the guests an opportunity to get to know the Synovus Mortgage Corp. team and Synovus Bank of Jacksonville.

The bank is an affiliate of Synovus Financial Corp., a diversified financial services holding company with more than $22 billion in assets based in Columbus, Ga. The company has 40 affiliate banks that are not branded with the Synovus name. TSYS, the world’s largest third-party electronic payment processor of international payments, is also an affiliate of Synovus Financial Corp.

What does the name “Synovus” mean?

It’s a combination of the words synergy and novus. Synergy is the interaction of separate components such that the result is greater than the sum of its parts, and Novus indicates superior quality and difference from the others listed in the same category.
