• The Jaguars are making some changes to the season ticket buying process this year. No more 12-month installment plans; four months is now the maximum layaway for the non-club seats, ranging in price from $280 to $900. The team will give you a little more time for the more expensive club seats. A seven-month plan is available for those. On the positive side, the team isn’t asking for a security deposit any more and multi-year contracts are no longer required for season tickets.
• Radio talk show host Andy Johnson is back on the air. He’s on WYMM, AM 1530 weekdays from 2-6 p.m., but he’s still banged up. Johnson broke his foot a week after the February Supervisor of Elections Office election and the foot is still in a cast.
• The expansion at Casa Dora on Forsyth is complete. It was open for diners on Monday.
• Odd lunch pairing. Mayor John Peyton dined with former Fire Chief Ray Alfred on Monday. One of the big reasons Peyton won the election on 2003 is because he had the support of the firefighters, who vowed to back him if he hired a new Fire Chief. Alfred still lives in Jacksonville and is a consultant.
• The City’s new Neighborhood’s magazine is out. The March/April issue features a cover story on JaxParks and the City’s summer swimming lesson programs at the Cecil Aquatics Center.
• The suns will be the Southern League’s featured game of the week three times this year on Comcast Sports South: June 11, July 9 and July 30.
• The final treasurer’s reports for candidates in the last election are due by April 10. If they are late, it’s $50 a day for three days and $500 a day after that.
• New Supervisor of Elections Jerry Holland will have to get acclimated to the job quickly and buy some new voting equipment. According to the State’s Department of State, each precinct in the county must be equipped with “at least one accessible voter interface device.” The State is suggesting a new touch screen machine that has a very long name: AccuVote-TS R6 Touch Screen Ballot Station Version 4.3.15D.
• The St. Johns River City Band is looking for volunteers on Saturday and Sunday during Jazz Fest this week. To help in the SJRCB beverage tents, call Arleen Baumgardner at 355-4700.
• The tie-dye vendor at last week’s Downtown farmer’s market won’t become a regular. He’s from Ohio and was just passing through on the way back.
