• The sale of all the manatees meant a pretty penny for the Otis Smith Kids Foundation. The “Sea Cows for Kids” campaign raised more than $215,000 for the Foundation. The money will be used for education-based programs such as FCAT tutoring and summer camps.

• Episcopal High is looking to expand its campus. An ordinance is working its way through City Council that would close and abandon portions of three roads near the school.

• That didn’t take long. Newly-elected Council members Ronnie Fussell and Richard Clark already have their portraits on the Council wall along with the other 17 members.

• The Chamber’s annual trade show is Thursday at the Morocco Shrine Center.

• Big convention coming next week: the area’s Assembly of God churches will have about 2,500 all over town.

• JTA Board Chairman Don Hinson will be reappointed for another term on the board. His term will expire May 31, 2009.

• You can see the new Jaguars on Saturday. Practices are open from 10:15-11:50 and 4:15-5:50.

• The Police and Fire Pension Fund have compiled a report concerning the condition and proposed redevelopment of the Bisbee, Marble Bank and Florida Life buildings. The Fund, which took ownership of the crumbling downtown landmarks a few months ago, will likely issue copies of that report to the City Council later this week in hopes of garnering some form of assistance.
