• Bacardi hosted the Jacksonville Film Festival opening party last year and supplied plenty of free rum at the bars, but vodka was the evening’s drink of choice and they ran out. That shouldn’t be a problem at this year’s party — Bacardi has since bought the Grey Goose vodka brand and is putting its name on the party.
• What do Jaguars first-round draft pick Matt Jones and attorney Howard Coker have in common? No, it’s not a 43-inch vertical leap or the shoulder-length mullet. It’s a love of turkey hunting. Coker says turkeys provide some of the most challenging hunts because of their intelligence and near 360-degree field of vision. Maybe that’s why Jones and his dad are celebrating the draft with a turkey hunt this week before heading here for the weekend mini-camp.
• Though word around the campfire was that SMG, the management company that handles Alltel Stadium, was having a tiff with Levy Restaurants, which runs food concessions at local venues, SMG general manager Bob Downey said everything has worked out and there are no problems. He said any problems in the past were simply “growing pains.”

• Legislation was introduced at Tuesday’s City Council meeting that would allow the non-profit group Friends of the Jacksonville Public Library, Inc. to lease space for a used book store in the new Main Library. Word is the legislation
will go through a relatively quick bill cycle so
that the necessary build out can take place in the building.
