Hatchett makes Hall of Fame
Judge Joseph Hatchett, former Chief Judge of the 11th U.S. Circuit Appeals court in Atlanta, was recently inducted into the National Bar Association Hall of Fame. After retiring from the U.S. Circuit Appeals court in 1999, Judge Hatchett took over as the head of Florida-based firm Akerman Senterfitt’s appellate division. Hatchett was chosen for the Hall of Fame in recognition of his more than 40 years of service to the American legal system. Among his many lifetime achievements, Hatchett was the first African-American appointed to the highest court of a state since Reconstruction when he was appointed to the Florida Supreme Court in 1975.
