• Legislation that would have repealed the funds for three new downtown parking garages never made it before the City Council. Sponsored by Council members Lad Daniels and Warren Alvarez, the bill was not heavily supported by any of the standing committees and was eventually withdrawn.
• The mayor’s office wants to spiff up the old building across the street from City Hall before Super Bowl crowds arrive. Chief Operating Officer Dan Kleman instructed Public Works to at least take down the “For Sale” sign and repaint where necessary on the City-owned building.
• The legislative delegation meets Friday, Jan. 21 at City Hall and they’ll hear what you want to tell them about the bills that have been filed. If you have a new bill, wait ‘til next year — that deadline was back in October.
• Clever folks at Bistro Aix, the fancy eatery on San Marco Blvd. When your bill arrives, it’s wrapped in a folder that has “The Damage” written on it.
• You better like good harmony. In two weeks, the national barbershop singers have their convention and there will be 10,000 of them around the area.
