• City Council member Michael Corrigan has announced his intentions to run for the Council vice presidency and early supporters for his bid include Elaine Brown, Kevin Hyde, Lad Daniels, Art Shad, Lake Ray and Daniel Davis. Ten endorsements make it a win.

• If you’ve been wondering what the rates at the new Main Library parking garage will be, don’t hold your breath for an answer. According to the Mayor’s Office, those discussions have not taken place yet. However, consideration has been given to make the first hour of parking free for library visitors.

• The Super Bowl seems to have some super scalpers with it. Even though the game is more than two weeks away, several ticket “buyers” have already started hanging out near Alltel Stadium’s ticket pick-up office.

• The State House leaders have scheduled a series of meetings around the state to discuss possible new Growth Management laws. The meeting here will be held in the Council chambers on Jan. 28.

• Longtime City Council aide Heather Patterson is back on the job, but only briefly. Patterson has been away since November while on a maternity leave, and has decided to go to work only part-time so that she spend more time at home. She’ll be in this week training her replacement, Kristy Miller. Miller transferred from the Property Appraiser’s Office.

• The First Coast Tiger Bay Club will host a forum Friday for the Supervisor of Elections candidates at 11:30 a.m. at the University Club.

• The mayor’s office is planning some quick pre-Super Bowl landscaping that has the City Council green with envy. Council member Daniel Davis wondered how the mayor’s trees can be planted in a couple weeks when he’s been waiting more than a year for landscaping in his district. “Can I add my trees to the mayor’s list?” Davis asked.

• The City Council’s Finance Committee backed off opposition to letting the JEDC negotiate leases at Cecil Commerce Center. JEDC Deputy Director Jeanne Miller played the trump card when she said the JEDC had to act quickly to secure a lease for a movie shoot. ‘Lonely Hearts’ starring John Travolta is scheduled to film at the former airbase turned aerospace industrial park.
