A commitment to ethics, preparation and professionalism are prerequisites for the 2005 Raymond Ehrlich Trial Advocacy Award. Nominations are being sought.
The annual award is given to a member of the local legal community whose work is based on the same principles as Ehrlich, a member of Florida’s Supreme Court from 1981 to 1991.
Send letters of nomination by April 8 to The Trial Advocacy Committee, in care of Donna McGavic at Brennan, Manna and Diamond, 76 North Laura St., Suite 1700, Jacksonville 32202.
The committee will judge nominees on the extent to which they possess the qualities that they say drove Ehrlich to the Supreme Court such as steadfast obedience to ethics, scholarliness, aggressiveness and a drive for what is right, not just billable hours.
The winner will be announced April 22 at the fourth annual Raymond Ehrlich Trial Advocacy Seminar at the Radisson. The seminar is similarly focused on the qualities that made Ehrlich a role model in Florida’s legal community.
The seminar offers a series of workshops blending advice from jurists and former jury members, with professional instruction in areas like courtroom technology and how to use evidence.
The fee for Jacksonville Bar Association members is $250 and non-members pay $275. The registration fee includes lunch.
Applicants who miss the April 15, registration deadline will be charged an additional $25.
The registration and check should be mailed to the JBA at 1301 Riverplace Boulevard, Suite 730, Jacksonville 32207.
