• High school graduation ceremonies this week have made the trolley lot busier than usual and SMG employees were encouraging regular trolley users to park as close to the trolley station as possible. Why? As one SMG employee put it, “There’s going to be a lot of kids parking here and if one of them dings your car, we aren’t responsible.”

• Casa Dora on Forsyth was the victim of vandalism Monday night. Planters and benches were turned over all over the sidewalk.

• Development on Atlantic Boulevard is booming right now. The new Kohl’s just west of Kernan is coming out of the ground. Also, “for lease” signs have been in front of the property between San Pablo Road and the Queen’s Harbour entrance for years. Land clearing finally started this week.

• The sign at The Plaza says it’s 80 percent sold and there is talk of Phase II starting soon.

• The renovations on the second floor at City Hall are for the expansion of the City’s Procurement Division.

• The Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra will hold its big annual meeting on June 8 at the Davis Gallery inside the T-U Center. JSA members and contributors are invited.

• The Justice Coalition is having its second annual Ride for Justice this Saturday. Sheriff John Rutherford and Justice Coalition founder Ted Hires will serve as grand marshals. Also expected are Mark Lunsford, the father of Jessica Lunsford, and Sheila Delongis, the mother of Maddie Clifton.

• Chamber stalwart Marsha Myers has moved from Lee Hecht Harrison to become president at Johns & Associates, a human resource management consulting company that’s part of Delores Kesler’s ATS empire.

• It looks like the Chamber has pushed its 2005 Leadership Trip to Boston back a few weeks. The trip is now scheduled for November 2-4 instead of the original October 10-12 date. It seems that the original trip was scheduled during the Jewish holiday Yom Kippur, which caused a few complications.

• Suzanne Jenkins is close to being the only City Council member to be certified as a county commissioner. The Council’s representative on the Florida Associations of Counties, Jenkins has been taking courses on ethics and land use in Orlando for months. Her final session will take place later this year.

• Clarification: in Tuesday’s City Notes, we told you about the banquet prior to next week’s Atlantic Coast Conference baseball tournament but we didn’t tell you that you can’t attend unless you’re invited.
